It’s the Autumn School Holidays (AKA: the perfect time to start formal shopping if you haven’t already!). 

"Why should I start formal shopping now, it’s so early?"

Great question! Regardless of whether you are in Year 10 or Year 12, the earlier you can secure your formal dress the better. This is for a few reasons:-

• With the stress of exams and the HSC around the corner, securing a formal dress sooner rather than later is always better!
• Your dream dress may be gone if you leave it too late! At Gorgeous Gowns we only get select numbers of each style, so when they sell out they’re most likely gone for good! Rule of thumb: if you love the dress, get it now! 
• We always have the most amount of styles in Autumn - so more options!
• With the rise of Instagram school formal pages, formal girls are claiming certain styles and even colours! So get in quick before someone from your school claims your dream dress!

How to prepare for your formal appointment:

• Look for inspo pics! We always recommend looking through our recent Instagram posts and website before your appointment, and if you like something - screenshot it and show us at your appointment! 
• Wear the right undies! This can make or break how a dress looks. We always recommend wearing nude, seamless undies to your formal appointment so you can get the best idea what the dresses look like on.
• Be open minded! Definitely have an idea of styles and colours you like, however it’s always best to keep an open mind. You may love strapless styles and then try them on and hate them or you may hate corset dresses and then try them on and love them! Remember: our expert stylists will help guide you into the styles that will suit you best, so be open minded to their suggestions even if it is something that you would never usually try! 

 

 

Who to bring formal shopping: 

The less people the better! Too many opinions can be confusing! From our experience, mum is always the best person to bring. 

 

 

What to expect for your formal appointment:

Our formal appointments run for 30 minutes and are a one-on-one experience with you and our expert stylists. At the beginning of the appointment, our stylists will ask you for your inspo pics, what sort of dresses you are gravitating towards and your budget. Then our stylists will assist you in choosing 5 styles to try on. While in the changerooms, our stylists will help you zip any dresses you try and narrow it down to your favourite.
